Amentum Consulting Engineer III in Aiken, South Carolina

Purpose and Scope:

The Consulting Engineer is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the company, project, or contract.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Prepares, reviews and approves documents as required.

3) Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management.

4) Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline.

5) Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

6) Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within a specific discipline and has basic understanding of other disciplines.

8) Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking documentation as well as the approval, revision, retention, and storage of documentation.

9) Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.

10) Perform project management tasks.

11) Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour and labor cost requirements to aid in evaluating the budget.

13) Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.

14) Understands the project change control process and identifies potential changes.

16) Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete plan.

17) Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to Engineering.

18) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four year accredited college or university. Master of Science or Doctorate in specialty of discipline preferred. 15+ years of professional experience in a discipline or specialty. Professional Engineering License preferred. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.
