Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Public Health Representative IV to work within the Capital Region and will be responsible for providing support and oversight for the implementation of all water supply related programs and working directly with hospitals and nursing homes on legionella control at their facilities. The incumbent will respond to public water supply emergencies, waterborne outbreaks, and will contribute to plan reviews for water supplies, bathing beaches, swimming pools and realty subdivisions throughout the region. The incumbent will also aid the local health departments by: serving as technical resource; coordinating and providing training; conducting periodic reviews, and ensuring consistent delivery of environmental health programs. Travel to sites will be required less than 20%. Other appropriate related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience in a health, human service or community-based organization, that includes providing direct patient/client services, performing regulatory activities, conducting epidemiological research, and/or direct clinical care as a healthcare provider, or closely related experience; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least one year of experience must have included program management or supervision of staff.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two years' experience supervising staff; at least three years' experience conducting inspections at operations permitted/regulated by a governmental entity; Public speaking experience; Technical writing experience; Experience using Microsoft Access and Excel; Experience inputting data into and extracting data from the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) and the New York State Department of Health's Environmental Health Information and Permitting System eHIPS.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position. Therefore, the incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment.
