The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany's Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Senior Education Specialist (Curriculum Developer) position in PDP's Department of Computer Training Services located in Albany, NY.

Description of Duties:

Under the direction of the program manager or designee, translate technical information on the New York State (NYS) proprietary system, CONNECTIONS, into training materials and system documentation for end users. The position will also provide instructor-led classroom, one-on-one, and virtual classroom training and training support. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, writing, and producing instructional materials, technical manuals, and job aids.

  • Delivering training and training support through various methods, including classroom training, one-on-one training, and through virtual classroom technology.

  • Researching, evaluating, testing, and implementing other training technologies.

  • Developing training needs assessments.

  • Assisting in the coordination of project activities and composing project plans and reports.

  • Working closely with NYS staff as needed to implement project deliverables.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • A minimum of three years' related experience developing training curricula/reference manuals/software documentation with a strong knowledge of instructional design.

  • Experience conducting technology-related training or other training support/teaching experience.

  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work under pressure and attend to details, as well as effectively work on multiple projects with competing priorities/deadlines.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated proficiency with English language grammar/usage.

  • Experience researching/using distance learning technologies or developing distance learning materials.

  • Experience translating complex business systems and concepts for diverse audiences and audiences that may include varying degrees of technical knowledge.

  • Expertise in proofreading, editing, and formatting training materials.

  • Ability to learn new software applications in a timely fashion.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.

  • Variable work hours and possible travel throughout NYS (including to areas that may not be served by public transportation) are required to gather information, test systems, or deliver training.

  • Ability to lift and transport computer equipment (laptops, PCs, monitors, etc.) up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Strong background in technical writing.

  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as Captivate, and graphic development and editing tools such as Photoshop.

  • Experience working with state or local government agencies.

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $60,000 - $62,933 (annual)
