Summary About the position: This is a Flexible/Intermittent category position located at the Stukeley Inn, 423d Force Support Squadron, RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom. There are no guaranteed hours, but the incumbent may be expected to work a varying schedule, from 0-40 hours per week. This position requires regular standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. Responsibilities Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, hamburgers, vegetables, sandwiches, broiled meats, pizza, soups, sauces, and gravies. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, dicing, pureeing, dredging, and flouring/breaking; weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; sets up and replenishes salad bar; portions food for distribution and meal service. Permanent and legal residents of the US must be citizens of a NATO country, unless authorized to reside in the UK as a dependent of an employee who serves in support of the US Visiting Forces. Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. Dual US/UK citizens may apply for US NAF positions if they have a valid US passport. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME): 1. Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation that was gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar activity; 2. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and so simple arithmetic; 3. Must have experience following food recipes, seasoning food, and determining when food is ready to be served. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. LQA is not authorized.
