Space Ground System Solutions, a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a software engineer in Alexandria, VA. The position will be responsible for software integration and development of the Virtual Mission Operations Center (VMOC) software. VMOC is a program under contract with the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC, that focuses on mission critical research for National Security. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in a team environment where creative solutions are encouraged, and technical challenges are the norm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze requirements, user stories, and documentation, and confer with internal and external stakeholders, to aid in verification of new features
• Create and execute automated test scripts to aid in smoke and regression testing
• Create, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures for feature and regression testing
• Troubleshoot software system issues and work with other developers and testers to resolve test anomalies
• Work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, software development, configuration management)
• Ability to support multiple Agile teams simultaneously

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a US citizen
• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance
• BS in Computer Science/Engineeringor other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
• Minimum of 5 years' professional software testing experience
• Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot potential software defects
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with developers to investigate and resolve test anomalies
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases
• Experience with Object-Orientated Development concepts
• Experience with cloud computing concepts
• Experience with Unix based operating systems and the command line interface
• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium)
• Experience interacting with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSql)
• Experience testing software application program interfaces (APIs)
• Experience writing and executing test scripts (e.g., JavaScript, Python)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Problem solving capabilities to diagnose and troubleshoot problems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with performance and stress testing concepts and familiarity with performance measurement tools (e.g., JMeter, Prometheus)
• Experience with Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)
• Familiarity with Satellite Systems, Satellite Operations, and/or Aerospace Engineering concepts
• Familiarity with continuous integration techniques and technologies
• Familiarity with Agile development concepts
