Join us at Ames CSD, where your talents are recognized, and you have the opportunity to grow in a supportive and dynamic community.The Ames Middle School is seeking an eSports Coach (Spring) for the 2024-25 school year.Work Schedule: 6-9 Hours per week per season. (Spring Season- March to May).SummaryThe Head eSports Coach will be responsible for developing and launching the eSports program, as well as recruiting student participants for the program, and coaching and devising strategy for the team. The eSports Coach will also provide key input into the selection of games and tournaments in which the team will participate.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Recruits and retains students for the eSports program.

  • Conducts coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition.

  • Provides guidance and input on games selected for varsity competition.

  • Provides input on design of eSports facility and selection of equipment, as well as maintaining that equipment.

  • Coordinates off-season, practice, and competition schedules.

  • Assists with team travel when necessary.

  • Runs camps, clinics, and promotional events.

  • Pursues sponsorship opportunities within the eSports business world.

  • Ensures team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

  • Continuously ensures personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with the School protocols.

  • Maintains an accurate roster of student participants.

  • Responds to questions or concerns of students, parents or other school staff for the purpose of providing information, assistance and/or direction.

  • Prepares guideline information for lettering/participation.

  • Maintains good standing within the Iowa High School eSports Association.

  • Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.

  • Creates a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • eSports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of eSports video games

The successful candidate will exhibit:

  • eSports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of eSports video games

  • Experience recruiting middle or high school students

  • Ability to envision and drive growth for eSports program

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to resolve issues independently

  • Strong relationship-building skills

  • Affinity with the overall mission of the model of ethical sports behavior

  • Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators and professional colleagues
