Responsibilities Responsible for vehicle checks, keys, logbooks, accessory equipment, radios, cargo, and passengers. Complete vehicle reports, manifest, and perform vehicle inspections. Complete safety and operator preventive maintenance inspections. Vehicles operated include, but are not limited to passenger cars, pickup trucks, vans, stake bed and box trucks, 6 1/2-ton trucks and dump trucks to 32,000 pounds GVWR. Other vehicles may include passenger buses and tractor trailer combination coupled by fifth wheel with lowboy to 80,000 pounds GVWR, semitrailers (flatbed and van) up to 53 feet in length and double semitrailer combinations up to 90 feet in length. Load and unload cargo by hand and forklift. Ensure cargo is appropriately secured. Safely transport various types of hazardous materials. Receive supplies and equipment and give documents to procurement and property. Issue and receive BLM owned firearms. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Screen-out Element: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision as shown by having operated motor vehicles up to 32,000 pounds and having a Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement and having passed the Air Brake test. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
