GRIMMWAY ENTERPRISES, INC. TRAVELING QA/FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR in Arvin, California

PURPOSE:

To oversee and assist with Quality and Food safety programs at the various Cal Organic facilities around Kern County and the Coachella Valley. Assist with QA/Food Safety training to all facility personnel. Assist with coordinating and performing internal plant audits and prepare for outside audits at multiple facilities.Conduct other tasks as directed by the QA Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise QA/Food Safety personnel daily.
  • Conduct job specific training for QA/FS Leads and technicians.
  • Assist in performing plant audits at multiple locations.
  • Review Food Safety documentation for accuracy.
  • Conduct daily Pre-Op inspections, swabbing equipment, collect environmental, enter data into computer and print out reports, order all chemicals and conduct and assess inventory as requested by QA/Food Safety Manager or VP.
  • Must be able to communicate with various departments and customers as needed (shipping, production, and sales).
  • Always ensure and protect security and confidentiality of company information.
  • Other job duties as assigned by the manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to move about inside the office and food processing facilities. Ability to operate a computer and other productivity equipment. Ability to work outdoors. Work in wet and damp environment. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100 to 110 F and as cold as -20 F to 32 F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year degree in Biology, Food Science, or related field preferred but not required in lieu of direct experience.
  • Must have knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety and QA measuring and testing equipment which includes working knowledge of quality system requirements.
  • Must be able to read and write procedures, update existing and create new Food Safety manuals.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job at all times.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to travel both local and out of the area to various Grimmway facilities within Kern County and the Coachella Valley (seasonal). This includes overnight travel (extended stay).
  • Must work in the Coachella area for approximately four months out of the year during entire winter harvest season (housing or housing allowance provided by the company).
  • Remote work not available for this position.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
