The Senior Manager of Operations Research will be responsible for the strategic direction and recommendations for the use of analytical models and decision support systems. Manage design, development and implementation of optimization models and algorithms to improve operational efficiency, resource allocation, and decision-making process.

Responsibilities

  • Manages projects and provides direct leadership in design and development of operations research models and decision support systems.

  • Supervises direct reports, including fulltime employees, contractors, and interns.

  • Utilizes operations research techniques and computer science skills in delivering decision support tools and systems.

  • Collaborates with business partners to identify opportunities for improvements by using decision tools to develop project proposals and managing projects through to completion.

  • Provides ongoing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to a team of operations research analysis, creating a team culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous learning.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership and key IT stakeholders and acts as a trusted advisor.

  • Reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve best practices to achieve higher maturity.

  • Recruits talent and acts on opportunities for team training and skills development.

  • Provides supervision, mentoring, technical leadership, and assistance to managers, and staff members.

  • Ensures work efforts are compliant with approved corporate policies, departmental standards, and procedures.

  • Coordinates and manages initiatives that involve cross-functional teams including IT, Business partners, and vendors.

  • Prepares and shares regular project status with senior management staff.

  • Applies understanding of industry best practices, optimization, methodologies, and emerging technologies in operations research.

Education

Bachelors Degree in one of the following or related field of study:

  • Computer and Information Sciences

  • Industrial Engineering

  • Operations Research

  • Systems Engineering

  • Electric Engineering

  • Mathematical Sciences

  • Applied Mathematics

Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership position

  • 5 years experience in operations research, optimization modeling and applying direct techniques such as LP, NLP & ADP

  • Experience with solvers like CPLEX or Gurobi

  • Discrete event simulation tools such as ARENA or AnyLogic for modeling and analysis

  • Strong programming skills/knowledge in Python, R, C++, Java, and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and implementation

  • Knowledge of SDLC processes and relational databases for data storage and retrieval

Education & Skills Preferred:

  • Ph. D in Operations Research, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

  • 6-10 years experience as an Operations Research Manager
