MaineGeneral Health Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)- Gray Birch, Per Diem in Augusta, Maine

Job Description Summary: Gray Birch, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Per Diem Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA will provide essential physical therapy services to patients, aiding in the development, recovery, and maintenance of physical mobility and function. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work in a supportive and patient-focused environment.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treatment Implementation: Execute treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, utilizing appropriate modalities and techniques.

  • Patient Monitoring: Observe and monitor patients’ responses to therapy, communicating progress and any necessary adjustments to the supervising therapist.

  • Documentation: Accurately document services provided, along with patient responses and progress, in a timely manner.

  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families/caregivers about treatment plans, exercises, and the use of adaptive equipment.

  • Discharge Planning: Assist in planning patient discharge, providing information on the appropriate selection and use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.

  • Collaboration: Seek consultation with the supervising therapist as needed to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

  • Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Maine State Physical Therapy Assistant licensure required.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in implementing physical therapy treatment plans and using various therapy modalities and equipment.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address patient needs and concerns, adjusting treatment plans as necessary under the guidance of a supervising therapist.
