Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops curricula for and teaches advanced fellowship trainees regarding molecular pathology-related bioinformatics and computer science. This may include but is not limited to introduction to coding languages and computational techniques. Understanding of computing structures and

  • Develops curricula for and teaches pathology residents, medical students and other trainees regarding fundamental introductory principles in molecular pathology-related bioinformatics.

  • Conducts and supports research projects in bioinformatics and molecular pathology. This may include bioinformatics elements of assay development, and collaborative/translational studies in conjunction with studies through the Pathology Shared Resource

  • Works with the laboratory leadership of the CMOCO laboratory to develop high-fidelity bioinformatics and data basing approaches to clinical next-generation sequencing data, including the development of comprehensive analysis software, development of databasing and visualization of analysis results and real-time troubleshooting as needed.

  • Identify and implement state of the art bioinformatics techniques for innovative analysis such as TMB, HRD, MSI and others

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Advanced graduate degree (PhD or equivalent) in Bioinformatics

  • Demonstrated experience of next generation sequencing pipelines and related tools and clinical databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years' experience working in a CLIA-accredited clinical laboratory setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately describe technical details, clear English language skills, and clearly understood speech in the English language for dictation.

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with all ages, groups and populations of external and internal customers, as well as coworkers, via phone, email and directly.

  • Extensive working knowledge of Python and Linux

The Department of Pathology seeks full time candidates to actively participate in and contribute to Bioinformatics pipelines and processes related to CLIA-grade clinical molecular testing. Successful individuals will participate in the development, validation, implementation and quality control for bioinformatics pipelines associated with active and in-development assays in the Colorado Molecular Correlates Laboratory. This position will include responsibilities in the education of trainees including residents and fellows in pathology, fellows in other specialty areas, laboratory technologists and graduate students, among others. : Onsite in Aurora, CO
