Google Senior Strategic Risk Manager in Austin, Texas

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, cybersecurity, technology research, anti-abuse, policy, or related fields.

  • 5 years of experience in risk management, crisis management, or a related field.

  • 2 years of experience resolving escalations and communicating with internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including on-call and weekend hours, to communicate with a globally distributed team.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in stakeholder and project management, with excellent product knowledge and insight.

  • Experience in business intelligence and data analytics.

  • Excellent thought-leadership and relationship building and management skills with both internal stakeholders and external partners.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will be part of the cross-product abuse and crisis management hub of Trust & Safety. You will coordinate the cross-functional response to high sensitivity escalations, connecting dots and synthesizing all incident intelligence, ultimately driving the issue to resolution. Partnering across the business, you will strive for a complete view of cross-product risks facing Google to provide incident intelligence and abuse mitigation assurance.

This role works with sensitive content or situations and may be exposed to graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting topics or content.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$191,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Identify potential strategic risks to users or Google, conduct impact assessments, and develop mitigation strategies to manage high-stakes events and global crises.

  • Develop and lead short and long-term projects that contribute to complete crisis management, focusing on securing users and platforms. Build and maintain relationships with all required agencies to effectively address global and region-specific challenges.

  • Develop working level knowledge of top cross-platform risks facing Google users, platforms, and operations in order to prioritize areas in which to mitigate gaps. Review past incidents, identifying context and root causes, and drive initiatives for improvement.

  • Take the lead in critical incidents, ensuring effective coordination and communication across teams for swift and effective resolution, minimizing negative user and organizational impact. Utilize our prioritization framework to consistently handle key issues, with a focus on investigating high priority issues.
