Avondale, AZ Distribution Center Slotting Specialist - Weekend Shift - Friday, Saturday & Sunday 6:00 am - 6:30 pm

Pay $19.75 ($18.00 plus $1.75 Shift Differential pay)

JOB SUMMARY: ( Overall purpose and objective of the job)

This position is responsible for maintaining and coordinating all measurements (cubing), slotting and re-slotting processes. The Slotting Specialist supports slotting strategy, policy and rules to minimize stock outs, and continuously improve distribution center efficiency and productivity. In addition, manages slotting for all SKUS throughout the life cycle of the items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : ( The reason this job exists is to perform these functions. These functions are performed regularly, seriously impacts other jobs, and there are a limited number of employees whom performance of the function can be distributed).

Slotting Specialist

  • Maintain DC slotting strategy policies and procedures to improve productivity, reduce throughput cycle time, safety performance, order accuracy and reduce product damage.

  • Ensure that new items are verified for accurate cubing and weighing.

  • Establish slotting for all new items

  • Move product as needed to make room for new products in an effort to efficiently utilize warehouse space and track product movement through the warehouse.

  • Update WMS with slot changes, alterations, expansions, etc.

  • Prepare slot change report identifying rearrangement of products.

  • Review and respond to adjustment requests for slotting changes.

  • Identify and correct item location discrepancies.

  • Error identification and correction with focus on root cause.

  • Communicate slotting changes to the Operations Team in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for coordination with production schedules for slotting product to benefit workflow

  • Identify “like items” that are slotted in such a way that the products may be confused, and mis picked; separate items as needed to reduce the possibility of mis pick and mis delivery of product to customers.

  • Check slots of discontinued items to determine if product is totally gone. Approve the deletion of the item code numbers if product is totally removed in an effort to ensure that not product is wasted due to deletion from the inventory tracking system.

  • Utilize slotting reports or other tools to identify trends and/or potential slotting moves to be made.

Education/Certification :

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience. Some college course work preferred by not required.

Required Knowledge:

— Understanding of distribution center storage, automation, and operations

Experience Required:

  • 1-2 years in a distribution center environment with at least 1 year in Inventory Control

  • Distribution center storage and material handling systems design

Skill and Ability:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, conclusions, or approaches to problems

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, ability to operate on tight deadlines with multiple priorities that are subject to frequent changes

  • Must be able to interface with a multi-shift operation, and physically frequent all areas of offices, warehouse and external trailer yards.

  • Production shift experience with working knowledge of all warehouse activities.

  • Must have administrative skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel, and Word

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
