Worcester Eisenbrandt Construction Stone Carver in Baltimore, Maryland


In the Mid-Atlantic region, Worcester Eisenbrandt (WEI) has used its knowledge and skills to restore a variety of public, institutional, commercial, and private historic properties. Currently, we are looking for an experienced Stone Carver or Stone Sculptorer.

Position Summary:

  • Experience in using sculpturing/chiseling tools to rough out shapes and detail works on various mediums.

  • Experience in using measurement tools to check the cut or carving's depth and dimension to ensure the parameters are followed.

  • Create grooves and shapes in stone by drilling holes in it.

  • Engrave designs, text, or other markings onto materials, work pieces, or products

  • Touch the carvings' surfaces to check for a smooth finish.

  • Remove or add stencils during blasting to alter the depth of incisions, the complexity of the pattern, or the finished product's rough, pitted appearance.

  • You'll frequently need to precisely read, comprehend, and follow technical blueprints and directions from Project Managers in addition to drawing intricate drawings to scale.

  • Comfortable following safety rules.

  • Comfortable with heights.

    Physical and Mental Prerequisites:

  • Dependable and capable of carrying out obligations.

  • A dexterous hand, strength and dexterity, exceptional coordination, and a sensitive touch are necessary for the position.

  • Strong physical and mental ability to manipulate objects with hands and arms when handling, installing, arranging, and moving items.

  • Carrying out physical tasks that call for extensive use of your arms, legs, and entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and material handling.

  • Able to use conventional safety gear, such as hard helmets, safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, when necessary.

  • Comfortable working in a variety of climates

  • Comfortable with heights.


  • Masonry and stone carving experience, ranging from three to five years minimum.

  • Own basic masonry and chiseling tools as required.

  • Must be able to handle and hoist things weighing up to 80 pounds and climb ladders and scaffolds while remaining balanced.

  • Working knowledge of historic preservation is beneficial.

  • Experience in color matching.
