Diageo Specialist - Finance Experience - Financial Reporting in Bangalore, India

Job Description :

Financial Controlling and Analysis (FC&A) Tower is part of Global Business Operations and provides oversight on financial activities and controls including general accounting, management and external reporting and financial planning and analysis. The tower is responsible for the interpretation of financial and statutory data, the coordination and management of financial and statutory reporting, the management of the P&L and balance sheet delivering solutions that will increase insight and clarity.

Dimensions and Market complexity:

Senior Financial Reporting Specialist closely work with Financial Controlling Manager (dotted line manager to the Financial Controlling team if applicable) and liaises with other internal & external partners.They will be handling the BFC reporting for a complex and critical entities.

Responsibilities of Role:

• Individual Contributor role for NAM Region

• Process journal entries posting, prepare and review the relevant backup calculation ensuring that adequate audit trail is in place for various Brand homes

• Prepare and post accruals to ensure the month-end results show the clear and fair picture.

• Perform GL reconciliations and action unreconciled items as per the policies & controls

• Collaborate closely across teams like FC team, Brand home managers, FP&A team, E2E commercial teams to ensure right accounting & provide high quality, timely management information to the business.

• Act as a key point of contact to the markets and FC team.

• Provide accurate, detailed and timely analysis or reports as needs are identified or requested by using various process related tools. Rapid and accurate turn-around required for ad hoc queries.

• Continuously monitor the respective P&L and/or BS accounts for any inconsistencies

• Quality review of reconciliations through deep understanding of the figures supported reported & ability to challenge the status quo. Need to act as a Owner.

• To contribute ideas, energy, enthusiasm, and support to the continuous improvement of the process. Simplify and standardize processes end-to-end.

• Ensure smooth and accurate month-end closes.

Purpose of Role:

• Act as functional expert (SME), able to analyze, give advice, resolve more complex issues that are non-repetitive (not defined by process) and has a unique, in-depth expertise in a specific area.

• Proactively suggests improvements/additional control points to build in and takes an active part in standardization of tools & processes, in implementation and in the follow-up.

• Develop a good working relationship with Regional Finance, FC team, FP&A team, market(s), GBO teams and global teams in order to conduct business matters efficiently as well as make improvements in business processes where applicable.

• Regular engagement with FP&A Directors, Market FDs and other Senior Leaders of the organization will be an integral part of this role.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Degree educated in relevant finance / accounting/ business.

• Consistent track record in the area of Financial Accounting / Reporting, and/or Financial Controlling experience is strongly preferred

• 7-8 years accounting knowledge, experience in accounting field.

• Experience in a Shared services environment is considered as an advantage

• Have an excellent understanding of BW, SAP, PowerBI solution with the ability to think broadly when a system related challenge occurs and extract data in a way that supports decision making.

• Able to interpret business Data into SAP data

• Personal drive to take ownership and deliver solutions

• Able to communicate within peer group and strongly influence getting changes done and issues resolved

• Senior partner management experience

Language skills

• Good business English, able to effectively communicate with market
