The Senior Business Controller transforms data into insights that drive business value using data analytics, data visualization and data modeling techniques and technologies. They turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.

"Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements. May provide consultation to users and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues. May directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools. May be internal operations-focused or external client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions."

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers.

  • Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in relevant datasets to locate influences.

  • Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge.

  • Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements.

  • Define, develop, enhance and track metrics and dashboard requirements to deliver results and provide insight and recommendations on trends.

  • Uses advanced data analysis and tools to ensure analytics are valid, meaningful, and provide actionable and comprehensive insights.

  • Support the team to help them answer strategic questions, make insightful data driven business decisions and properly design new initiatives.

  • Provide technical advice, consultation and knowledge to others within the relevant teams.

  • Provide support to address and resolve business issues.

  • Create relevant reports and present on trends

  • Analyse data across various platforms, including social media and present trends and patterns.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and build sound working relationships

  • Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Understanding of current data protection and privacy laws

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree

  • Relevant certifications

Required Experience:

  • Strong experience working in an analytics capacity

  • Good experience working with data collection tools and software

  • Experience producing Excel-based reporting

  • Dutch speaker
