Position Summary:

As Senior Logistics and Distribution Manager you will lead our distribution operations within our UK and European network, supporting sales of more than $250m. With Responsibility for our own distribution centers and coordinating efficient operations of our 3PL warehouses, you will drive the entire distribution process, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of products to customers while maintaining cost-effectiveness and high-quality standards. You will collaborate with various teams to build strategies to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and achieve operational objectives.

  • Design and implement distribution strategies and plans to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the distribution process, implements 5S principles.

  • Be responsible for and manage the entire distribution process, including inventory management, order fulfillment, transportation, and warehouse operations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of products to customers, meeting, or exceeding service level agreements.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze distribution performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, production, and procurement to plan inventory levels, and optimize distribution networks.

  • Lead and mentor a team of distribution professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a strong and motivated workforce.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers and other key partners in the distribution network.

  • Monitor and manage distribution costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop strategies to improve overall operational efficiency.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to distribution, and recommend and implement standard methodologies accordingly.

  • Incorporates Lean Leadership into daily work and into the organization to include Visual Management, Stand-Up Meetings, Gemba Walks, and Leader Standard Work.

  • Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create customer value and lead to a future state Value Stream that eliminates waste and drives process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, service, and productivity.

  • Role-models the Thermo Fisher 4i Values and uses these as a day-to-day guide in decision making.

  • Other duties and cross training as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

  • Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in distribution management, preferably in a senior leadership role.

  • Solid understanding of supply chain principles, distribution strategies, and standard processes with the ability to translate theory into practical business success.

  • Proficient in using distribution management software and systems.

  • Excellent team leadership, and organizational change skills, empower and encourage others to achieve goals.

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Effective communication and people skills, collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Validated history of successfully leading sophisticated distribution networks and delivering results.

  • Strong business insight to make data-driven decisions.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards

  • A continuous process improvement approach to effectively lead and manage change.
