Job: Maintenance Support Team Leader - Guinness Beer (Diageo)

We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in North West England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets. Significant investment is underway at both of these locations.

This role is site based at Diageo’s east Belfast packaging facility is a 12-acre site running a 24/7 operation and is supplied with beer from St James Gate brought to the site in bulk tankers, which each hold up to 30,000 litres of beer. It has been operating for over 30 years, formerly as Irish Bonding and employs 150 direct staff. The site produces over 20 brands, including Guinness Draught, Extra Stout and Foreign Extra Stout, Harp, Hop House 13, Smithwick’s and Rockshore.

About this role

The Maintenance Support Lead (MSL) reports to the Beer Packaging Engineering Manager, overseeing the delivery of utilities, facilities, and beer intake processes. The role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, driving continuous improvement, and leading a specialist support team. The MSL collaborates with external partners and actively participates in Implementation Task Force meetings, aiming to enhance asset reliability and overall manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Lead a specialist support team and deploy Manufacturing Management System (MMS) Asset Care practices.

  • Actively participate in Implementation Task Force (ITF) meetings for sustainable MMS implementation.

  • Oversee utilities delivery, facilities management, and beer intake process reliability.

  • Drive projects to reduce site energy, carbon, and water usage.

  • Maintain and verify the site asset register.

  • Provide technical solutions through Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS).

  • Collaborate with Sodexo and Veolia for effective technical solutions and world-class standards.

  • Train and develop Craft, apprentices, and new engineers.

  • Act as a leader in maintaining 5S and Asset Care standards.

About you

For this role you’ll need to have a minimum HND or degree level qualification in electrical, mechanical or chemical/process engineering subject areas.
