In Finance Technology, we build machine learning systems that look through billions of dollars in transactions from across Amazon. Our goal is to increase the adoption of machine learning across Finance. To do this, we build machine learning applications which use the latest techniques for forecasting, classification, and anomaly detection purposes. Our current applications range from finding anomalies in data all the way to predicting how much cash to keep in an account.

In a typical day, you will work with machine learning scientists, other software engineers, and business groups across Amazon Finance. You will work with terabytes of data and develop machine learning pipelines which process billions of dollars. We partner with our customers, so you will meet with them directly to gain direct feedback on your work. Our team and customer are comfortable trying new ideas, so you will test your ideas in the real world.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will participate in all parts of the software development process, from collaborating with customers on design to executing that design in a scalable and extensible way. You will have the opportunity to detect fraudulent transactions/vendors by applying machine learning techniques and help Amazon business every day.

About the team

Our team owns rule based and machine learning applications and we worked with finance operations to prevent, recover, or avoid internal and external theft, fraud, abuse, and waste.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• 2+ years of building large-scale machine-learning infrastructure for online recommendation, ads ranking, personalization or search experience

• 2+ years of big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR or Storm/Samza experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
