The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) works as an intermittent employee under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse and the direct day-to-day supervision of the county Caseworker. This position does not have a set regular work schedule, but will work only on an as-needed basis for client assignment. This position provides non-skilled care for program eligible frail elderly and disabled persons (clients) in the clients? homes while adhering strictly to the client?s plan of care and agency policy. Therefore, the Personal Care Assistant should have ability to show interest, kindness, consideration and care for elderly and disabled citizens. AGENCY EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE 1. Adheres to Agency Policy and Procedures 2. Acts as a role model within and outside the Agency 3. Performs duties as workload necessitates 4. Maintains a positive and respectful attitude 5. Communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues 6. Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload 7. Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position 8. Meets department productivity standards ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs duties of personal care or attendant care services in an effective and efficient manner as outlined on care plan 2. Documents services provided, frequency of services, and total hours worked for each client; has client?s time/contract sheet signed by client to verify that documented visits, services and hours worked were provided and are accurate for billing 3. Submits time sheets to supervisor no later than last working day of each week for payroll processing 4. Arrives and leaves at designated times assigned and must spend designated length of time in the client?s home 5. Notifies the client and supervisor if unable to report at client?s home by designated time, as well as reporting any other change in schedule 6. Reports any change of client?s medical, emotional, financial or living condition immediately to R.N. or Caseworker 7. Attends all Agency provided training and in-services to comply with license requirement of 12 hours per year 8. Adheres strictly to ethics, privacy and HIPAA laws, rules and regulations 9. Adheres to other policies and procedures as stated in the agency?s Intermittent Personal Care Assistant Handbook and Guidelines 10. Must be able to perform the work assigned safely, responsibly and physically 11. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor or management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing JOB CLASSIFICATION: Intermittent; Non-Exempt CONFIDENTIALITY: Information regarding a client of this agency shall not be released to any source outside of this agency without the signed permission of the client. Furthermore, information will only be released internally on a need-to-know basis. Employee will not discuss client cases outside the office or with anyone not employed by this agency unless they are directly involved with the patient?s case.
