Description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Insurance Authorization Coordinator. The Insurance Authorization Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that patients receive timely access to necessary medical services by obtaining insurance authorizations and coordinating with healthcare providers and insurance companies. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review physician orders and medical documentation to determine the need for insurance authorization.

  • Initiate and facilitate the authorization process with insurance companies, following established guidelines and protocols.

  • Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to gather necessary information and documentation for authorization requests.

  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients and obtain pre-authorizations as required.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure that all necessary information is submitted accurately and promptly for authorization processing.

  • Track the status of authorization requests and follow up with insurance companies as needed to expedite approvals.

  • Document all authorization activities and maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

  • Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and provide guidance on coverage, benefits, and authorization processes.

  • Collaborate with billing and coding staff to ensure accurate and timely billing for authorized services.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Prior experience in healthcare administration, insurance coordination, or related field preferred.

  • Strong understanding of insurance terminology, billing procedures, and authorization requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health records (EHR) software.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of medical coding and billing practices is a plus.

  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
