Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist - Per Diem, 33 Lewis Rd United Health Services is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist - Per Diem to join our Lewis Rd Clinical Documentation Improvement department at 33 Lewis Rd in Binghamton, NY. This is a Per Diem position.

$21.80 - $32.60 per hour, depending on experience.

Overview

Facilitates improvement in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of clinical documentation. Obtains appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing and other patient caregivers and the Health Information Management coding staff to ensure that the complete and accurate level of services provided is documented and that appropriate reimbursement is received for patients with a DRG, MS-DRG, APR or All-Payer based grouper. Educates members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis. Works closely with coding supervisor.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

  • RHIT certification with an Associate degree in HIT.

  • One year of coding experience.

Preferred:

  • RHIA certification with a Bachelor’s Degree in HIT.

  • Two (2) years inpatient coding experience.

  • Five (5) years auditing experience in the health care field.

License/Certification

Minimum Required:
