The Associate Director, Engineering Communications plays a pivotal role in managing a team responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive range of integrated communications strategies that align with the objectives of RTX’s enterprise-wide Technology & Global Engineering organization. The Engineering Communications Lead will support the business unit VP's of Engineering

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with the Director of SLT Executive Communications and senior communications leaders to design and implement a unified and coordinated RTX engineering communications strategy that aligns with enterprise-wide engineering and business engineering priorities.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the lead engineering vice presidents for Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon, participating in leadership team meetings and offsites, and managing support requests.

  • Engage with key stakeholders to gain insights into BU Engineering strategic priorities and ensure communications align with business needs.

  • Identify enterprise-wide engineering communications campaigns and develop integrated plans for effective communication across the engineering organization.

  • Lead strategic messaging and storytelling for internal and external engineering communications.

  • Work closely with senior executive communications leaders to align messaging and content, and collaborate with the PR team on media strategies and opportunities.

  • Manage a team of Engineering communicators, responsible for overseeing executive communications, employee communications and engineering campaigns across the business units.

  • Partner with Communications’ Centers of Excellence to leverage existing materials and expertise, contributing to enterprise-wide communications campaigns or initiatives.

  • Drive continuous improvement through metrics, feedback collection and evaluation / analytics.

  • Travel up to 25%, or as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or other and a minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 10 years experience

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies

  • Experience in managing a team and working with senior executives.

  • Strong background in both internal and external communications

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align communication efforts with business objectives and engineering priorities.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills in managing a team, fostering collaboration, and driving results.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in engaging with key stakeholders to understand strategic priorities and translate them into effective communication initiatives.

  • Messaging and Storytelling: Strong skills in crafting compelling messages and storytelling for both internal and external audiences.

  • Collaboration and Relationship Building: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and external partners.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in utilizing data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and drive continuous improvement.

  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.

  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. Minimum Program Qualifications

To qualify for the RTX Re-Empower Program, candidates should:

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
