In the Storefront team, we are the first impression of a&nbsp; customer’s shopping experience; we own the design and implementation of the customer-facing website. We partner with Product, Experience Design, Analytics and business leaders across Wayfair; our Storefront Engineering teams ensure that we’re building technology that solves important customer problems in elegant, scalable, measurable ways.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our <strong>Site Services</strong> teams own systems that deliver various capabilities to the eCommerce platform. From site merchandising and customization, to navigation, to personalization, the Site Services teams own and develop capabilities critical to the success of the customer journey and the company. Within the domain, the teams will both be building new capabilities as well as rearchitecting and migrating existing functionality and data as part of the overall technology transformation effort.</p>

<p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Oversee a sprint team of 5-8 software engineers</li>

<li>Build a capable team with strong leadership through effective headcount planning, hiring, on-boarding, retention, and continuous improvement</li>

<li>Be responsible for owning features developed by your team in each phase of a project – design, implementation, code review, QA and deployment to production</li>

<li>Partner closely with product owners and stakeholders to build and maintain a robust project roadmap</li>

<li>Break down complex initiatives into concrete iterative pieces</li>

<li>Seek out, define, and evolve best practices within teams’ area of focus as well as initiatives that raise the standards across the organization</li>

<li>Flex your strength and knowledge on Java, DevOps, and microservice development.</li>

<li>Work closely with architects and other teams across Storefront to breakdown an existing PHP monolith into well defined Java Microservices with clean boundaries and clear API contracts</li>

<li>Ensure services are built to industry best practices, including observability, architectural patterns, and inter-team dependency mechanisms (like SLOs)</li>

<li>Work within an Agile culture to foster continuous improvement at the team and departmental level</li>

<li>Proven success in mentoring junior engineers to improve standards and reduce defects in dynamic environments</li>

</ul>

<p><strong>What You’ll Need:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>7+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large-company experience&nbsp;</li>

<li>Mastery leading or managing a team of software engineers and delivery of business impacting applications</li>

<li>Prior hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining services and systems that support the delivery of end user experiences, functionality and data.</li>

<li>Understanding of software architecture to help empower software developers to build new features with reliability and scalability in mind</li>

<li>Experience in cross-functional consensus building and influencing without authority</li>

<li>Mastery in designing systems at scale</li>

<li>Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques</li>

<li>Expertise with a modern programming language (such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, Scala, GO, or others)</li>
