What You'll Do Direct Support Specialists (DSS) enhance the quality of life for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities receiving PPCH services by providing meaningful services and support. You will assist in the implementation of an individual's choices and pursuit of personal goals. Monitoring and ensuring the self-worth, health, safety, and welfare of individuals receiving services is of utmost importance. You will also ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies. This position includes a combination of administrative and direct care tasks. You will: Support the Director in ensuring that services and support are provided in a manner that respects and acknowledges individuals' self-expression, self-worth, self-reliance, and decision-making Ensure that staff have the training, resources, and work environment to support our members in services in pursuing their goals, activities of interest, and social interactions Ensure implementation of the Annual Plans and Individual Service and Support Plans (ISSPs) for member in services and assist team with administrative responsibilities such as scheduling and billing Assist clients with their medical needs by helping with appointment scheduling, transportation to appointments, communication with medical providers, and medication management when needed Foster collaboration with our members in services, their loved ones, staff, the Host Home providers, and their support team Accurately update and manage the Personal Needs Funds and individual information of clients using designated software and procedures while complying with PPCH policies and the rules and regulations of state and federal oversight agencies Conduct regular visits to homes to ensure that our clients are healthy, satisfied with services, and that the setting meets all quality standa Attend PPCH and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed or requested and more

What You'll Need A high school diploma or equivalent To successfully complete the required training (it's provided) At least one year of experience working with the I/DD (Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled) population or long-term care, hospice, memory care or psychiatric populations A strong desire to work closely with adults or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities To be proficient in reading and writing English with good communication skills, even when non-traditional methods of communicating are used To be able to use Microsoft Office or other similar software efficiently To have a current driver's licen e, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PPCH's driving and insurance requirements

Bonus Points for Having Experience with the Colorado Developmental Disabilities system Knowledge of the health care field or working with others in a health care capacity The ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van

Important - Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work is often performed in private homes or in the community and occasionally in a typical office setting. Frequent lifting or carrying of approximately 15 pounds and occasionally lifting, moving, or transferring up to 75 pounds is part of this job. This position involves physically assisting others, including pushing or pulling individuals using wheelchairs, assisting with other mobility needs and helping with daily living skills. Driving with and without clients is required on a regular basis.
