State of Massachusetts Telecommunicator in Bourne, Massachusetts

Under the direction of Chief Deputy of Communications, Telecommunicators are responsible for all duties that are associated with our regional emergency communications center. Telecommunicators are tasked with monitoring a variety of radio channels and telephone lines, processing emergency and non-emergency calls for service, and performing administrative duties relative to public-safety communications. * Responsible for management and proper operation of all equipment and systems associated with our regional emergency communications center. * Telecommunicators shall monitor and process all calls for service received through our regional emergency communications center in accordance with all applicable Massachusetts regulations; * Telecommunicators shall monitor and process all calls for service received through our regional emergency communications center in accordance with dispatch standards and standard operating procedures. * Responsible for performing all associated duties in a timely and efficient manner; * Responsible for complete, accurate and timely call-creation in our CAD system when applicable; * The Telecommunicator shall accurately document all matters related to the position as they occur; * Responsible for participating in all training required by the position of Telecommunicator; * When qualified, may be required to assist in the training of newly hired telecommunicators, 9-1-1 call takers, and CMED operators; * Responsible for review and compliance of all applicable policies and procedures of the agency; * Responsible for review and compliance of all policies and procedures associated with the regional emergency communications center; * Responsible for observing the chain of command and following all lawful orders of superiors; * Responsible for conducting himself/herself at all times, in a professional, courteous and ethical manner befitting an employee of this agency; * On occasion Telecommunicators will be required to perform their duties under very stressful conditions; * Ability to work well with others, teamwork is the cornerstone in the delivery of emergency services in the Communications Division; * Required to actively participate in shift coverage for any vacancy that may occur, this may include forced overtime. Good attendance is an essential aspect of the position; * Must be prepared to perform all duties related to the position of CMED operator and 9-1-1 call taker; and * * * Current CPR certificate * Current First responder certificate * APCO PST-1 certificate * Must have a high school diploma or equivalent * Proficiency with computers * Efficient and accurate typing skills * Ability to multi-task * Ability to work in a team setting * Background in public safety * Previous dispatch and/or call-taking experience * Valid Massachusetts driver’s license. * Able to pass a security clearance background check and drug test* * _Desirable_ APCO EMD certificate Job: Public Safety* *Organization: Sheriff's Dept Barnstable *Title: *Telecommunicator * Location: *Massachusetts-Bourne - 6000 Sheriff%27s Place Requisition ID: 240003IU
