Responsibilities

The Gerontologist at Brookdale serves as the company's aging expert, responsible for integrating current research of human aging into company policies and practices. This position plays a pivotal role in reviewing and incorporating evidence-based practices into care delivery, participates in the development of aging-related programs, serves as a thought leader in aging initiatives both internally and externally, and provides expertise in environmental design for seniors. This role collaborates with various teams to introduce new products, services and care delivery practices tailored to meeting resident needs and remains up-to-date on leading research in the memory care sphere.

  • Lends expertise to enhance the quality of care and improve clinical outcomes. Provides consultation on the design and development of resident-focused new products and services.

  • Actively seeks and supports the integration of Value-Based Care principles into assisted living and memory care settings.

  • Works in collaboration with the clinical, engagement and memory care teams to plan and develop programs and foster the growth and innovation of those programs.

  • Coordinates research initiatives and translates latest research advancements into practical and programmatic solutions.

  • Partners with asset management and development teams to introduce new environmental concepts supporting care and services models. Offers evidence-based consultation on dementia care design and gero-friendly interiors for new-build dementia care communities.

  • Collaborates with internal partners to explore and champion new technological solutions aligned with business goals.

  • Oversees pilot projects and guide them through successful implementation.

  • Works with IT and Procurement teams to determine programmatic supply standards and supports nation-wide contracts with vendors.

  • Develops brand identity and marketing materials for new gerontology-related programs/products.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in gerontology and memory care for public relations and marketing efforts, including conference presentations and webinars.

  • Represents Brookdale in governmental, senior living industry, and dementia care groups to promote industry leadership and innovation.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Gerontology or Social Work required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with aging and dementia care programming and management experience with at least 5 years of senior living experience required.

Certification, Licensure and Other Special RequirementsMust be able to travel by air on company business. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Has an expert knowledge of a skill or discipline. Has overall understanding of the work environment and process. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business tools/publications/regulatory updates. Ability to effectively lead a team, present to internal and external customers. Salary Range Information

$147,350 - $187,713 / year
