Health First Medical Assistant Training Program - No Experience Required in Brevard County, Florida

We are currently accepting applications for a unique opportunity to both gain employment with Health First and to enroll in the Medical Assistant program with Eastern Florida State College.

How can Health First help you become a Medical Assistant?

If you have earned a high school diploma, pass a background check and are offered a position with Health First, you will be admitted to Eastern Florida State College’s (EFSC) MA program. Health First will: * Hire you to work as a per diem associate while you are in school o “Per diem” means you would work as needed in a variety of shifts and locations and your hours would be flexible o You may choose from a variety of per diem roles, such as Patient Observer, depending on your experience and availability. o You must work at least 12 hours a month * Your experience will give you a head start when you’re ready to begin working as a MA * Provide you up to $5,000 in financial assistance for your tuition o You pay the remaining costs for your books, lab fees and uniforms o You must complete the program within 12 months o You must agree to continue working at Health First for 24 monthsafter graduation

If you meet the qualifications, we will be in touch with you shortly for the next step in the interview process. * * What does a Medical Assistant do? * Assisting in medical care of patients and supporting front desk functions while working alongside physicians, nurses and other office staff * Measuring the patient’s height, weight and blood pressure * Preparing patients for their exams * Updating Medical Records * Scheduling Appointments * Administers all medications as ordered and assures all documentation is noted. Controlled substances, insulin and allergy doses must be checked by LPN, RN or provider. * Appropriately performs patient clinical intake, assists other clinical providers with office procedures, and accurately documents patient data. * Administers injections that are ordered. * Communicates effectively with customers (patients, physicians, and other Health First Associates) practicing excellent customer relation skills at all times while organizing and directing daily medical assistant functions. * Ensures that all exam rooms and equipment are stocked, cleaned, and ready for the next patient. * Able to assist patients with scheduling questions by accessing the scheduling system and ability to print needed information. * Provides patient follow up and education to ensure patient’s participation in their care. * Communicates effectively both verbally and written with physicians, supervisors, co-workers, patients and vendors. * Coordinates medical supply ordering with site manager. * Associates support engagement through adherence to the (I-CARE) commitments.

*Upcoming Cohort will begin classes in the Spring of 2023, but employment may start before moving into the educational portion of this role.

Qualifications Required: * High School diploma or equivalent * Ability to use and operate a computer. * Good organizational and communication skills. * Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language
* Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel amongst all Health First locations
