The Opportunity

In their capacity as Contracts Manager, they will provide technical expertise to, and advise the Contracts Lead in the management of, Abt Australia and Abt Britain’s enterprise contracting activity.

In their capacity as Legal Graduate, they will support the Deputy General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel and the Contracts Lead provide legal advice to Abt Australia and Abt Britain as required.

The position will develop and maintain trusted relationships and high customer service standards with diverse internal and external clients.

Core Responsibilities

Contracts

  • Advise the Contracts Lead Counsel in the development, implementation, and continual improvement of a pragmatic and innovative framework for contracting activity in close consultation with program and corporate stakeholders, including the corporate policies, processes, templates, systems, and data analytics supporting client, consultant, subcontract, grant, supplier and property contracting and procurement.

  • Provide advice to the Contracts Lead and effectuate the devolution of contracting activities and approvals. Provide technical advice to other corporate stakeholders as required in the devolution of activity, from home office to the programs in a risk and equity-appropriate way, including the development, implementation and continual improvement of the processes, systems, and training to support it.

  • Lead the provision of technical advice and undertake contracting and procurement activity in respect of complex and high value contracts, including reviewing and approving (in line with delegated authority) consultant, subcontract, grant, supplier, property, and other contracts.

  • Continuously improve expertise in, and current awareness of changes to, the laws and client procurement rules relevant to Abt Australia and Abt Britain’s contracting activity.

  • Provide guidance to Abt Australia and Abt Britain’s Business Growth teams in the contracting aspects of new business opportunities being pursued; and

  • Train staff and provide additional capacity building to key internal clients on templates, policies, procedures, contracting and grant.

  • Serve as contracts POC for subcontracts.

Legal (if legally qualified, but not required)

  • Provide practical, accurate and timely legal advice, training and other legal support to the company and its subsidiaries on a broad range of legal issues as required, under the direction and supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel and the Contracts Lead.

General

  • Other reasonable duties as required.
