Job Summary: Responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Assists with the budgeting and forecasting process for the regional operations. Assists with financial analyses as required related to the regional operations.

Primary Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation of accounting records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for the month end closing process related to operational accounting areas. Ensure performance and documentation of internal controls related to areas of responsibility. Work directly with external auditors on audit requests. Assist in coal inventory tracking. Calculate and prepare various non-income tax returns for the regional operations (including real estate tax, personal property tax and sales/use tax). Work directly in the management of capital spending (including cash flow assumptions, project commitment tracking and spending timeline projections. Assist with maintaining the accuracy of the fixed asset system (including asset disposals, additions and transfers). Serve as an efficient back-up in the invoicing and tracking of purchased coal and contract mine agreements. Help with the development and implementation of accounting reports and programs. Assist in development and implementation of continuous improvement projects. Aid in the development of capital request, forecast preparation, and economic evaluations as needed. Support Operations management by providing financial information including historical and projected cost trend analysis. Perform other various financial and administrative functions necessary to the regional location.

Position Prerequisites/Preferences/Certifications/Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in accounting preferred Strong understanding of US GAAP Self-motivated individual with the ability to meet project deliverables Strong leadership skills with an ability to work well within a team structure Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills Excellent organizational, analytical, decision-making, and research skills Project ownership mentality with willingness to take responsibility of assigned task
