Lincoln Lawrence Franklin Regional Library Library Clerk-Lincoln County in Brookhaven, Mississippi

This position is for a Library Clerk with a company in Lincoln County, MS.

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for most day-to-day patron interaction in the libraries. They are responsible for keeping all materials in proper order, keeping the facility neat and safe and providing patron assistance. Check in/out library materials. Issue library cards to patrons. Shelve library materials. Calculate fines; make change for services; handle money in other ways. Type. Assist patrons with public computer use. Use library automated system for circulation and other duties. Count items and file as needed. Identify and retrieve requested materials for patrons. Send and receive faxes. Assist with copy machine. Work as team member. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: High school graduate, prefer some college or community college level courses. A minimum of two years work experience. Proficient in typing. Ability to organize alphabetically and using complex decimal numbers. Ability to accurately calculate denominations of charges and change for service payments by library patrons. Proficient in use of multi-button telephone, fax, copier, calculator, scanner, personal computer, and mobile devices/tablets. Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, web browsers, and social media applications. Interpersonal skills to work well with staff, community and peers. Physical requirements include but are not limited to: Ability to sit, stoop, bend, reach, carry, push, pull. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to push a fully loaded book carrier weighing up to 100 pounds. Ability to lift weights up to 20 pounds. Ability to operate a computer and grasp books and other library materials. Must have correctable vision to read computer screens and locate books and other materials on library shelves. Must have correctable hearing to understand and communicate with patrons, staff and technological resources. Must be able to perform the various tasks which require continuous and repetitive arm, hand, finger and wrist movement. Must be able to access material at heights of 90 inches, retrieve materials from shelves and filing cabinets, use step stools and ladders. Must be able to read graphs, maps and charts. Additional requirements: Must be able to interact courteously and effectively with the public and other staff members. Extensive public and telephone contact require verbal and hearing communication skills and ability. Library employees must exhibit a positive and friendly service approach.  Must interpret library policies and procedures clearly and consistently. Must assist patrons with computer applications, Internet access, online catalog, book and audio selection and other tasks.
