The Salvation Army Ministry Outreach Coordinator (Brooklyn Bedford Corps) in Brooklyn, New York
Overview
To be responsible for bridging the gap between the corps (Church) and community and bringing spiritual formation to our social services network with an added responsibility of running the front office.
Responsibilities
Daily:
To maintain client records in a thorough manner following Salvation Army guidelines for confidentiality.
Responsible for operating front office receiving calls and taking messages as necessary.
Maintain statistics for all Ministry & Social Service Programs.
Manage & coordinate Food Pantry operations, inventory, files, appointments, etc.
To fulfill other appropriate responsibilities as directed by the Corps Officer.
Ongoing:
To recruit, schedule & maintain volunteers for all social service programs.
To participate in regular staff meetings and attend staff training conferences as assigned.
Create & maintain Ministry & Social programs as needed.
Assist Corps Officer as a liaison between the Corps and Community agencies and facilities.
Assist Corps Officer with Community Events & Fundraisers
Prepare & submit to Corps Officer monthly gift-in-kind.
Conduct on-going evangelical ministry with the purpose of introducing men, women, and children to Jesus Christ.
Enhance the environment and ministry opportunities, so that Church and community members can grow and mature in the faith and grow in Holiness.
Seasonal:
Responsible for advertising & registering all Salvation Army Seasonal Programs.
Responsible to oversee, maintain overall Angel Tree program as well as solicit donors for the Angel Tree Program with the Corps Officer
Assist with all seasonal activities in the Corps including but not limited to Thanksgiving, kettles, Angel Tree.
Annual:
To attend training seminars as requested / assigned.
As Needed:
Assist Corps Officer in weekly banking.
Assist with Grant Applications (As needed)
Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish & English preferred
Ability to communicate & work with all volunteers, staff, and guests of The Salvation Army
Ability to facilitate and organize community events.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good Managerial & Leadership Skills
Valid Driver’s License
2-3 Years of Ministry related experience and organizing community events
High School Diploma or GED
