The Mohave County Animal Shelter is currently recruiting for an Animal Shelter Lead in the Kingman, AZ location.

Provide leadership and guidance to the Animal Care Technicians in the performance of their duties. Assist Animal Care Senior with needed tasks. Support the Animal Shelter Manager in ensuring quality care for shelter animals. Provide quality service to internal and external customers.

REPORTS TO

Animal Shelter Manager, Animal Care Senior or designee.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Will provide direction and functional supervision to Animal Care Technicians.

Essential Job Functions

Directs, guides, and coaches Animal Care Technicians in the performance of their duties.

Prepares and monitors staff schedules to ensure proper coverage.

Prepares surgery lists.

Assists Animal Care Senior in identifying animals needing medical intervention.

Implants microchips.

Vaccinates as indicated and necessary.

Triages emergency cases and takes appropriate action with required urgency.

Performs euthanasia and assist staff in humane euthanasia techniques.

Maintains proper sanitation of kennels, cages, floors and equipment.

Helps identify animals that come to shelter already surgically sterilized (pre-alters).

Provides courteous, high quality service to members of the public.

Provides adopter support to include post op. care instructions, administration of meds, and needed follow up care.

Maintains records and files.

Assists with evaluation of program operations and provides needs assessment

Stores and maintains inventory of medical supplies.

Meets with the public and conducts tours.

Monitors safety practices and ensure safety procedures are in place and observed in accordance with Federal, State, and County regulations or policies.

Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

Performs special assignments as requested.

Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures.
