Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for providing tenants of Fifth Avenue Place Calgary with a high level of customer service in the completion of tenant requests as well as completing maintenance duties on various types of building equipment in a safe manner. The successful incumbent will be flexible with regard to completing a variety of duties while the Operations and Maintenance team continues to grow. This role may be required to complete basic plumbing and lighting duties, as well as provide support to other departments within the property team. A strong team player is required for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repairing and re-lamping existing lighting systems

  • Basic plumbing repairs (including plunging toilets, and repairing faucets and flush-o-meters)

  • Completion of other tasks as assigned.

  • Occasional shift work may be required.

  • Embody and support Brookfield Properties’ Safety, Health, and Environment Policy.

  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate hazards to reduce risk to the workplace.

  • Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely.

  • Take action to stop work if it cannot be executed safely or if conditions or behaviours are unsafe.

  • Immediately report SH&E incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and/or at-risk behaviors to their supervisor; then diligently work to correct the problem.

  • Promote safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Brookfield Properties Safe Work Procedures.

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required.

  • Shift work is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

A significant portion of time in this position will be spent servicing tenant requests. This daily interaction with customers demands an individual with a keen service orientation as exemplified by the consistent demonstration of empathy and courtesy in all customer interactions. Our level of tenant service further requires the communication of a sincere desire to contribute to tenant satisfaction by taking personal responsibility for resolving the tenants’ concerns.

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Candidates must be mechanically inclined, with general knowledge of basic plumbing and in a wide range of mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, and all air handling equipment.

  • The ability to troubleshoot possible malfunctions with the equipment listed above is an asset.

  • Basic Electrical knowledge is an asset.

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Must understand the maintenance and operational routines of mechanical equipment.

  • Experience with Samsung mobile and Angus is an asset.

EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES:

  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Working towards a Fifth Class Power Engineering Certification
