Spark Power Power System Electrician (PSE) in Calgary, Alberta
Power System Electrician (PSE)
Reporting to the site supervisor, the Power System Electrician (PSE) will be responsible the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power generation, transmission and distribution systems and equipment.
What will you do as a Power System Electrician (PSE) at Spark Power?
Install and maintain electrical equipment and apparatus in generator unit stations, sub stations, collector stations and/or powerhouses.
Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and manufacturer specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations, splice, join and connect wire and/or high voltage cable to fixtures and components to form circuits.
Install and maintain electrical power distribution equipment such as transformers, generators, voltage regulators, switches, circuit breakers, capacitors, inductors, above/below ground conduit, ground grid, structural steel and fabricate control panels, brackets, and hangers.
Inspect and test installed electrical equipment and apparatus to locate electrical faults and check their operation, using volt meters, ammeters and other electrical test instruments and equipment
Adhere to all company and client health and safety guidelines and regulations
Ensure all electrical installations follow applicable client standards and trade practices.
Complete maintenance reports, QA/QC and ensure paperwork is completed timely and legibly.
Scope and order material for projects and daily work requirements.
Travel to remote locations and work at heights outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, and if need be, replacing or repair following proper installation guidelines.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:
Journeyman Electrician and industry related safety certification
PSE designation is considered an asset
Experience in industrial electrical construction and maintenance
A professional and respectful attitude with a strong customer service focus
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
Ability to work independently and cohesively within groups
Capable of working at various heights. With the ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
Knowledge to interpret Canadian electrical code and Alberta Utility Code with a high level of mathematical aptitude
Willingness to travel, work in remote job locations and perform shift work.
