Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

The candidate will be performing structural welding within a shop environment. The primary responsibilities include fitting and welding drilling products, fuel tanks, and other structural objects using regular mild steel. The role involves welding the structure of a drilling rig with a 50/50 split between fitting and welding (20/80 split for the night shift). The use of oxy fuel cutting torches and maintaining a fit-up tolerance of approximately 1/8" is required.

The work shifts are either:

• Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with overtime available after 8 hours in any day

• Monday to Thursday from 2:30 pm to 1:00 am, with overtime available after 10 hours in any day and a $3 premium for afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding within a shop environment.

• Fit and weld drilling products, fuel tanks, and other structural objects using regular mild steel.

• Weld the structure of a drilling rig, with a 50/50 split between fitting and welding (20/80 split for night shift).

• Use oxy fuel cutting torches and maintain a fit-up tolerance of approximately 1/8".

Essential Skills

• Journeyman Welder with 5 years of experience.

• Proficiency in fluxcore and metalcore welding.

• Capability to weld in all positions.

• Experience with mild structural steel.

• Fitting experience (skids, ladders, handrails, platforms).

• Own tools including fitting tools, grinders, tape measures, digital level, and standard tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CWB ticket - Flat, FCAW & SMAW.

• TIG welding exp.

• Quality Control experience.

• Alberta overhead crane ticket.

• Lead hand experience.

• Overhead crane experience or ticket.
