Thompson Health Manager of Rehab Services, Long Term Care in Canandaigua, New York

Description

  • Effectively leads and coordinates the activities of the clinical staffs (PT, OT, Speech and others) and support staffs providing clinical services to the Continuing Care Center and contracted services outside the health system.

  • All activities actively support the mission, goals and objectives of the Health System.

  • Also coordinates activities with other services within and outside the Health System to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of our Customers.

  • Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.

  • Assure competency of all staff members; assist in formulating budget, evaluates department performance vs. budget and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.

  • Responsible for ensuring quality and fulfillment of all regulatory and compliance requirements of clinical, clerical, and technical processes.

  • Act as Rehab liaison with the Medical Director for Rehab Services, referring physician offices, interdisciplinary management/staff, and the executive vice president in charge of the CCC.

REQUIRED JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • The Manager of the CCC Rehabilitation Services must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's/resident's/resident's status and interpret each patient's/resident's requirements relative to age specific needs and to the care needed for effective treatment. Must be able to provide administrative guidance and consultation appropriate to the age level of development of the Associate.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Possesses and expertise in Rehab Services with additional knowledge base in management theory and practice.

  • Must demonstrate the skills necessary to evaluate and treat referred patients/residents within their scope of practice.

  • Must be able to coordinate all MDS flows, minutes management and daily therapy schedule including the weekend schedule in order to ensure that the standard of care is met (to meet the established RUG level).

  • Ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations and manage multiple simultaneous responsibilities as well as prioritize scheduling of work.

  • Ensures that all CCC Rehab staff use the transitional documentation tools effectively and have been trained in consistent manner.

  • Completes the electronic schedule and monitors rehab optima indicators of care delivered.

  • Orients all new CCC staff and establishes an orientation schedule for new employees.

  • Coordinates a monthly meeting to discuss updates/changes and any ongoing issues to be resolved.

  • Works with Leader of Coding and Compliance to ensure monthly rehab documentation audits are completed and feedback is given to each staff member.

  • Ensures that all staff are timely with documentation and that all charges are submitted each night.

  • The Manager of Rehab Services must be competent in the clinical application of therapeutic modalities within the scope of their licensure and be able to assess the clinical work of other therapies under his/her direction.

  • Consistently displays a high standard of medical and business ethics. Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information, including but not limited to patients/residents, operations and the health system.

  • Completes all other assigned duties by the Vice President of the CCC.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current NYS Licensure / Registration in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy. Ongoing accredited continuing education as required by NYS licensure or certification.

  • CPR Certification within three months of employment.

EDUCATION

  • Required

  • BS degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy Preferred

  • Masters Preferred

  • Additional clinical certifications and/or credentials.

EXPERIENCE

  • Required

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Speech Therapist.

  • A minimum of one year supervisory experience in a Rehabilitation setting, a Rehab clinic setting or a Long Term Care Setting including supervision of a student in a CCC setting.
