Kemin Industries is seeking aResearch Associate for our location in Cavriago.

AsResearch Associate you and your team will be responsible to develop encapsulation and coating technologies to achieve functionalization and protection of the active of interest. This position will be responsible for developing processes from lab bench formulations to industrial implementation, including analytical work. You work very closely with the Associate Director and team members of the Encapsulation Team of Kemin Cavriago and staff from other departments, and you have contact with peers on a worldwide level. This function requires a substantial amount of hands-on work to complete projects, combined with comprehensive reporting in both written and oral communications throughout the company.

The primary function of this position is

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development of specific encapsulation and coating process so that the molecule of interest can be more stable or can be functionalized as required.

• Responsible for the scale up of the process from bench to pilot and production scale at the Kemin Cavriago plant.

• Perform a continuous evaluation of new and existing ingredients and technologies with regard to their functionality, implementation and feasibility.

• Assist in administration of research and development projects according to the Production Innovation Process and project execution taking into account established priorities and timelines.

• Compilation of scientific reports both for internal reference and external communication.

• Assist in the preparation of patent applications concurrent with the development of novel and proprietary technical innovations

• Ensure that all tasks are followed according to Kemin’s system procedures and internal instructions of the quality system

• Work closely with other functional areas within Cavriago to ensure that projects are developed in an efficient and timely fashion.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD in pharmaceutical/drug formulation or delivery. Chemistry major will also be considered.

• Experience in encapsulation or coating technologies (eg granulation, fluid bed, etc)

• Very open minded towards new technologies, absorbs new insights and competencies, a keen desire to grow and develop in this area.

• Self-starter, takes initiative to get the job done.

• Team player and good communicator.

• Ability both to think conceptual and act hands-on.

• Analytical mind and drive for execution.

• Fluent in Italian and English, both in oral and written communication.

• Ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with all levels of management within a team environment.
