General Purpose of Job

The Sr. Consultant, Customer Experience Product Owner will be a critical member of Lincoln’s Customer Experience organization, leading work to transform customers’ digital experiences. Specifically, this role will collaborate with Product Managers and other Product Owners to define and deliver on efforts to digitize communications related to Lincoln’s Group Protection business unit. The Product Owner will be responsible for prioritizing the product backlog and will work closely with the software engineering team to set quality standard for delivery while ensuring the technology solution meets the needs, goals, and objectives of the business. The work the Product Owner will lead is highly visible across the Lincoln organization, with opportunities for regular engagement with senior and executive leaders that support multiple business units.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.

  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides a complex understanding the business and product usage to contribute to the program vision and roadmap development.

  • Leads requirements gathering effort on epics and documents story details based on the epics.

  • Directs, advises and collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to determine Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and goals for complex product offering(s).

  • Proposes solutions to stated business problems, assesses alternative solutions and identifies gaps based on knowledge of the product and how clients use the product.

  • Translates and conveys the overall business vision into technical requirements and tactics for product development.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and/or management to gather and support prioritization of complex product requirements, providing recommendations, as appropriate.

  • Serves as key decision maker on priorities of product backlog, and works to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle.

  • Manages dependencies in and across sprints and releases.

  • Provides direction and collaborates effectively with appropriate stakeholders on complex issues and conflicts that impact time, cost, scope, quality and risk of assigned projects.

  • Provides subject matter expertise to clarify development requirements.

  • Serves as a mentor and shares knowledge with more junior team members.

  • Leverages data to influence and measure the overall adoption strategy to ensure deliverables, ROI, and key objectives are met.

Education and Experience

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)

  • 5 – 7+ Years of experience in Business Analysis, Project Management, or a product-related role within a development team that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. (Required)
