The Senior Technical Project Manager for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for driving and supporting the implementation of pivotal initiatives, running regional and/or global technical and non-technical projects, and giving support towards building of the future state of the Global Operations plans.

This position is part of the newly formed Global Operations Strategy and Special Projects Team, it can be a remote role (need proximity to one of the operating sites in MN, California, Florida), and it will require approximately 30% domestic travel, specifically based on the various phases of the project. Ideally the role is permanently located in Chaska Minnesota.

In this function, the team is responsible for the direct management including planning, initiating, executing, and delivering of the upcoming transformational needs across major and complex projects and against aggressive and challenging key performance indicators.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of the full project life cycle - successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one to two major or several minor/medium projects simultaneously.

  • Establish and drive the achievement of Project and Portfolio KPIs through the adoption of Danaher Business Systems tools (Visual Project Management, Daily Management etc.) and Global Ops PMO Standard Work/Methodology.

  • Demonstrate intuition for business to support how solutions will address project goals. Ability to work through ambiguity and drive and support the team to ensure maximum clarity.

  • Collaborate with, influence, and hold accountable cross-functional project teams to ensure project(s) are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

  • Develop and effectively communicate project risks, progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, leadership steering team, and executive-level key partners.

  • Ability to escalate appropriately (timeliness and thoughtfulness) and whenever the outcome of the project is at risk and the project team needs support from the sponsored governance bodies.

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement on standard methodologies and tools for project and portfolio management, and PM talent development.

  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop less experience PMs and potentially manage 1 to 2 other PMs directly or indirectly.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in Engineering or Science related field with 14+ years of related experience in an operations environment (manufacturing, engineering, operations PMO, or logistics and distribution). Or master’s degree with 12+ years’ experience.

  • Demonstrated experience & success in leading medium and large, complex projects, especially those including technology/product transfers between sites, including start-ups/shutdown related projects.

  • Project management trained/qualified (e.g. PMP certification or equivalent).

  • Extensive working knowledge and experience of project and portfolio management governance, process, and tools.

  • Extensive experience working with or across various operational related functions such as Manufacturing, fiancé, quality, regulatory affairs, EHS, IT, Engineering, and HR.

  • Global business knowledge and influence – demonstrated understanding of different cultures and approaches and demonstrated ability to lead, follow, work and influence at all levels and in all functions of the organization.

  • Proven ability to mentor and facilitate project teams with varying levels of PM competence. Can objectively hold difficult conversations with colleagues and can quickly support and facilitate effective teams in a global matrixed organization.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels.

  • Develop and effectively communicate project risks, progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, leadership steering team, and executive-level key partners.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Prior experience leading small teams, individual contributors, multiple PMs.

  • Change Management Certification desired (Prosci/ADKAR or Other)

  • Lean/Six Sigma Experience, certified Kaizen leaders in DBS and demonstrated capability in Problem Solving.

  • Proficiency in Power BI/Smartsheet, Miro, Excel and PM software.
