Project Engineer- New Product Development

Location: Cheltenham

Salary circa £40K (subject to skills & experience), plus a fantastic benefits package including staff discounts and company bonus.

But, to get to where we want to be, we are looking for an enthusiastic project engineer to come and join our exciting Digital Programme Team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about ideation, prototype development, testing, validation, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Job Summary

In this incredible role, you will be actively developing new products within our portfolio and technologies for Kohler Co. For this you will need to be a curious and tenacious individual with a drive to experiment and develop next generation showering experiences.

• Create and execute design solutions, using engineering fundamentals and logic backed up by practical technical problem solving, to support the development from an idea to a product in the market.

• Bring ideas, innovations, future trends and new opportunities through to next generation products.

• Work within an NPD Project team, carry out a broad scope of complex engineering tasks including integrating existing technologies into projects and technical assignments. Having autonomy and is fully accountable for completing and defining work packages.

• Oversee complex engineering analysis using theoretical and practical tools (e.g. CFD, FEA). Lead by example in using fact-based decision making, achieving timely consensus within the team, and avoiding over-analysis.

• Own the of delivery of assigned work packages to a high quality, on time, and with consideration given to cost and sustainable goals.

• Be an active and engaged member of the Digital team (and wider engineering team), bringing your insights to team meetings and innovation sessions and supporting the other team members.

• Lead the testing of new concepts/products using both novel and iterative development approaches to seek optimum product performance.

• Benchmark and test of competitor’s products, bringing insights.

• Proactively collaborate with a multifunctional team deliver project to time, cost, and quality targets, with a full alignment to standards & legislation.

• Compilation and entry of supporting data such as: product BOMs, design record files, engineering changes.

• Work within an established new product development process.

• Measure and balance your actions and decisions against time, cost, quality, and sustainability goals.

• Champion and develop best practice.

• Support continuous improvement within the department and support wider business activities, e.g. early career programmes, stewardship etc.

• The role may occasionally require visits to customers and suppliers, both domestic and international.

Skills/Requirements

• A qualified Mechanical Engineer, who has gained experience through either apprenticeship or higher education, i.e. HND, degree, or with intern and/or co-op experiences. Will have at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.

• A strong team player with a positive attitude who is excited to work collaboratively.

• Highly motivated and self-driven with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Passionate about new technology, naturally inquisitive, and driven to identify and solve engineering problems.

• Appetite for learning about new technologies and methodologies and integrating them into product ideas and designs.

• Used to working with a new product development process.

• Working knowledge of FMEA’s, DFA, CFD, FEA and Moldflow.

• Designing for various manufacturing processes: injection moulding, machining etc.

• 3D / 2D CAD, preferably Creo Parametric.

Desirable Requirements:

• An appreciation of water/fluid principles and/or fluid control systems.

• A working appreciation of electronic and electrical systems.
