About our Team

Copyrights specialist team supports the general business operations by working on various activities related to publishing and acts as a coordinator to ensure that there are no issue related to copyrights before publication.

About the Role

The Copyrights Specialist is responsible to manage, supervise, and offer permission seeking/ grants support for books/journals/eProducts, that is, from submission of a request for permission support, create, develop and/or manage permission log, seek permissions, and completion of the process in a timely fashion to ensure the publication schedule is met.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with standard global procedures and processes or to agreed exceptions for permissions processing.

  • Maintain awareness/expertise in the up-to-date current procedures, processes, and system functionality and attend continuous process training.

  • Maintain departmental SLAs on speed and quality.

  • Supports authors by assisting with their permission queries.

  • Act as a liaising person for Editorial, Production, Authors and Freelancers, and professionally represent Elsevier in all dealings and proceedings with external contacts.

  • Oversees the maintenance of rights management system and enters contract and status information.

  • Performs a variety of complex tasks Requires expertise in a variety of work processes through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.

  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices May act as a lead, coordinating the work of others.

  • Gathers information to solve problems that are escalated from team members Impact

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize; decisiveness; proactive; budget and timeline conscious.

  • Strong customer focus and service orientation balanced with attention to company interests.

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels. Positive and constructive approach to problem solving.

  • Methodical, logical, organized and attention to detail.

  • Good working knowledge in MS-Office Tools (Word, Excel & Access) & Internet searching, Reports and Data skills.

  • Graduates in any discipline with 3-5 years of experience in a publishing environment would be an added advantage.
