Position : Tax Accountant

Location : Manapakkam, Chennai, IND-TN

Job Purpose :

This position is responsible for preparation of indirect tax calculations and returns which may include sales, use, property and regulatory tax. The position is also responsible for data gathering and reporting for tax returns, preparation of tax payment requests, tax work papers, and account reconciliations. Other duties include evaluating and assessing use tax, creating and obtaining resale and exemption certificates, drafting responses to notices from tax authorities, and managing business licenses. This position will also assist with tax projects and audits as needed. Organization of the indirect tax area will include updating the Monday.com calendaring tool, managing department Outlook inboxes and processing the physical mail.

Essential Functions:

  • 40% - Preparation of indirect tax compliance assignments, including analysis and support.

  • 20% - Preparation of reports, support, certificates and payment requests for tax compliance.

  • 20% - Tax accounting support, including account reconciliations with analysis and resolution of discrepancies.

  • 20% - Researching and resolving tax issues with taxing authorities and customers, as well as audit support.

Education:

  • Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree specializing in Accounting or Finance or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1-3 Years

  • Public Accounting experience or experience in the preparation of sales and use, property, and regulatory tax returns preferred

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sales and use, property, and regulatory tax compliance preferred

  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access required; advanced skills preferred

  • Tax compliance software experience preferred (e.g. OneSource, Avalara) preferred

  • Demonstrated skills in communicating orally and in writing with all levels of management

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to seek out and suggest alternative procedures to meet objectives and strict deadlines

  • Ability to exercise judgment

Supervisory Responsibility :

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment :

The work is primarily performed in an office or remote environment.
