About the Department

The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE) is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine. CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041. CCHE\'s mission includes integrated and comprehensive approaches to HIV elimination, including addressing risks associated with drug use and addiction, and testing interventions to promote harm reduction, testing, and linkage to care. Projects are located throughout the state of Illinois.

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager of Implementation Research will work closely with the PI, Director of Research and Manager of Implementation Research to oversee implementation of several research projects at Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE). This candidate will facilitate the implementation of research studies and provide project management and research support to research staff and Principal Investigators. They will supervise other research staff and students working on various studies and engage in administrative tasks related to the research. The Assistant Manager will also oversee several projects\' operations and handle compliance requirements.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Director of Research, Manager of Implementation Research, and Principal Investigators to implement clinical research projects.
  • Leads efforts to execute scopes for various research projects at CCHE, including coordination with community partners and collaborating institutions.
  • Ensures compliance with requirements of funding sources (e.g., submitting program plans, providing progress reports, final reports, etc.) and compliance with human subjects research (support development of IRB protocols and submissions).
  • Supports the development of research study protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Facilitates the implementation of research study protocols.
  • Manages and oversees work of research specialists and research assistants.
  • Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • Experience working with and/or providing care to groups living with addiction.
  • Experience working on multisite research projects and working with harm reduction and/ or HIV prevention research.

  • Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Ability to travel to study sites throughout the state once monthly.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
