Job Description:

This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Enterprise Products & Platforms (EPP) Team, focused on Operational Excellence (People, Process and Performance), where our vision is to "Always be a... people led, product centric, future focused & trusted technical partner of choice".

The Director, Operational Excellence (OpEx) EPP will report to the Senior Director of Excellence for EPP and will manage EPP performance, process, financials, and team engagement as well as support leadership engagement and EPP strategy. This role will collaborate with Product and Productivity Excellence leaders to implement the EPP strategy, help EPP achieve its vision, objectives and key results (OKRs) and ensure that business partners and stakeholders validate EPP’s role, value and performance. The Director will have three direct reports.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Strategy, governance, communication and change management

o Support ongoing strategy and planning for EPP including strategy definition and refresh, ensuring alignment with overall Global Technology Strategy and broader McD strategy.

o Drive transformation management to ensure value realization including supporting EPP strategic planning and governance process (EPP Council, stakeholder engagement, value briefings) as well as periodic strategy/leadership events.

o Ensure strategic alignment across EPP in partnership with EPP Finance, People, Supply Chain and Corporate product areas.

o Flow down strategy through the EPP OpEx team to align strategy to goals to execution.

o Shape and manage all EPP communications and messaging internally and externally, to EPP team and key stakeholders including GT and business partners ensuring they are timely, effective and consistent.

o Continuously gather customer needs and feedback including period business partner surveys.

o Drive consistent engagement with EPP change network to drive adoption of new ways of working and enhance collaboration.

o Establish practices to embed and include industry trends, competitive research and benchmarking in EPP, leveraging lessons learned to drive innovation, thought leadership and improved products/platforms, people, process and performance for EPP.

Organization and people management

o Execute hiring and employee lifecycle process and activities.

o Work with EPP leadership to ensure all EPP team members have a clear career path.

o Create annual employee engagement calendar and implement all funded activities to improve team engagement

o Manage EPP’s annual employee survey, reporting and action planning process.

o Oversee capacity planning across EPP, including periodic reviews and oversight of intake and demand consolidation across EPP.

o Manage overall EPP resource allocation, aimed at resource optimization.

o Conduct team performance management actions, reviews, and evaluation.

Performance insights and value realization

o Oversee EPP financial management activities including financial planning, budget requests, and aggregation.

o Lead monthly financial planning activities, setting EPP leadership expectations and partner with peer leaders in Financial Planning & Analysis.

o Drive OKR monitoring, refresh and reporting to key stakeholders.

o Establish effective tools and tracking for value realization.

o Conduct effective cost-benefit analysis, return on investment (ROI) analyses, and business case justifications.

Ways of working optimization

o Ensure adoption and alignment of EPP team and practices to agile and product-centric ways of working

o Build EPP capabilities in agile and product via regular trainings, coaching and knowledge sharing.

o Provide director level leadership to EPP demand management, intake process and prioritization of initiatives in alignment with key objectives.

o Lead road mapping exercises with teams to inform backlog prioritization.

o Partner with peer directors in project management office (PMO) to establish ways of working, best practices, and identify opportunities towards improvement.

Service, capabilities, partners and alliances

o Ensure EPP product and service catalog is up to date, including periodic reviews/refresh based on business / partner needs

o Drive consistency and quality of vendor performance and management across EPP domains

o Support McDonald’s company events including worldwide convention and other company-wide events to ensure EPP representation and participation

o Drive social and performance networking to enhance partnerships and alliances

Qualifications:

Qualifications & Experience

· Experience at Director level or equivalent with a variety of organizational practices, including strategic management, financial management, operations excellence, and organizational practices.

· Knowledge and ability to oversee recommendations and improvements of best practices.

· Able to navigate complexity, various stakeholder needs, while delivering tangible outcomes.

· Ability to work across diverse teams to enable change and establish operational cadences.

· Working knowledge of business practices, organizational practices, and governance processes.

· Experience as director or equivalent role in building team culture and organizational culture.

· 10 years’ experience working in business, technology, organizational effectiveness, organizational excellence, business process optimization, continuous improvement, or other related areas.

· Working knowledge and experience with agile principles and ceremonies, as well as product centric models.

· Comfortable working across local and international teams, on-site, hybrid, and virtual environments.

· Able to work with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365 / O365, including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and oversee team members working in these applications.

· Comfortable to use, navigate, or learn Smartsheet and other digital tools and dashboards.

· Comfortable working with senior organizational leaders, technology leaders, human resource leaders, operational experts, communications teams, strategy & planning, and finance teams.

· Ability to collaborate horizontally and vertically across technology leadership teams, aware of industry and technology trends, and open to cultivating ideas of adoption and innovation.

· Demonstrated combination of education and years of director level experience showing ability to collaborate with senior leader teams, provide strategic recommendations, and execute action.

· Capable of being structured and methodical, while also flexible and adaptable to changing organization needs, technology innovation, and organizational transformation.

· Able to specifically partner with peer director leaders in Global Technology, Strategy and Planning, Financial Planning and Analysis, Human Resources Management, and Operational Excellence.

· Organization to establish and meet deadlines, communicate strategy up, out, and down, and to ensure overall EPP is prepared and resourced to meet strategic objectives
