Summary This position is located in the Legal Division, Supervision, Legislation and Enforcement Branch, Bank Activities and Regional Affairs Section (BARAS), Chicago Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. BARAS provides legal advice and counsel on all open bank legal matters in coordination with the other sections in the Legal Division and other FDIC Divisions. Responsibilities Provides technical and program support and assistance in collecting, organizing, and reviewing information for the production of various documents and reports. Performs routine research on select topics/issues in support of programs, as directed by the supervisor or other professional staff. Provides accurate, timely updates on procedures, reports, requirements, and other administrative matters necessary to implement Branch policies, directives, and instructions. Establishes and maintains records, files, and work papers in both hard copy and electronic forms, for the immediate use of the staff. Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required Qualifications Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 7 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience researching data to produce memoranda, charts, reports, and other documents for management use, utilizing electronic databases, and organizing and maintaining records in an electronic format. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position. Selectee(s) for headquarters, regional, and area office locations will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor’s direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements for headquarters, regional, and area office locations are expected to increase in July 2024. Selectees(s) for field office locations will be required to report in person to an FDIC office or financial institution at their supervisor’s direction.
