Bon Secours Mercy Health 2024 Summer Nurse Extern Periop - The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio

The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati is seeking nurse externs for the summer on our Periop Unit . We are looking for nursing students who specifically have a desire to work in surgery post graduation!

During the Nurse Externship Program, students are assigned to preceptors who are experienced Registered Nurses chosen for their excellence in practice. Externs participate in a number of clinical experiences and attend special seminars designed to enhance their practice. Externs are assigned to areas that match their personal interests and will complete clinical rotations.

The Mercy Health Summer Nurse Externship Program is a twelve-week, summer program from June 3, 2024 to August 23, 2024.

Externs will be compensated while in the program and are expected to work the designated schedule with an assigned preceptor, following their work schedule. Externs are also expected to attend all required educational experiences.

Eligibility Requirements for the Summer Nurse Extern Program are as follows:

  1. Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and have completed one class and one clinical rotation to qualify.

  2. Commit to the entire summer program.

  3. Complete Online Employment Application.

Working Conditions

Patient Population

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
