JOB SUMMARY

The Service & Repair Buyer/Support Specialist 1 is responsible for procuring spare parts, supplies, and services within the scope of business policies and procedures to support the Ethicon Service Center operations.

The Service & Repair Buyer/Support Specialist 1 will also assist with service work order processing, updating capital equipment asset records, and disseminating information to various Service Centers as necessary. Additionally, the Buyer/Analyst may on occasion assist with customer billing, contract generation/updating, agreements, business reviews, metric generation, and other duties as described below.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Prepares purchase orders for the timely and economical purchase of goods and services with regard for quality and delivery.

  • Coordinates closure of purchase orders and any necessary accruals

  • Provides tactical buying support and ensures compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.

  • Forecasts service parts usage

  • Monitors Parts Depot inventories and performance metrics and champions continuous improvement to reduce cost and optimize quality and service

  • Partners with Service Engineers to deal with engineering changes, obsolete parts, service bulletins, and technical issues related to service parts

  • Sets up pricing for new service parts in the EES Inventory system

  • Partners with Quality Engineers to deal with receiving inspections, documentation, first article inspection, and NCRs

  • Identifies and dispositions slow moving inventory

  • Works closely with global Johnson & Johnson MedTech Service Centers to understand and meet their needs

  • Communicates with global Service Centers and other stakeholders regarding order status, changes, cancellations, back orders, expected delivery dates, and pricing.

  • Establishes and fosters relationships with suppliers

  • Compiles materials for formal bid packages for supplies maintained in inventory.

  • Reviews formal bids received from suppliers and collaborates with other staff members to determine best option.

  • Negotiates standard contracts and Statements of Work for purchases.

  • Identifies possible sources/suppliers for requested items.

  • Troubleshoots minor discrepancies pertaining to purchase orders, requisitions, supplier deliveries, prices and quality.

  • Tracks and reports market trends and availability of designated procurement commodities to department.

  • Provides feedback on designated supplier base to facilitate decisions regarding consolidation and supplier replacement

  • POLICIES: Knows and follows EES policies and procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility

  • TRAINING: Completes training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Completes required periodic re-training in areas such as safety & environmental

  • SAFETY: Follows all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. Promotes safety to all associates that enter work area

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Completes assigned daily tasks within Medical Device Service and Repair (MDS&R) database.

  • Works with Service & Repair Support technicians when necessary to locate missing shipments; when applicable.

  • Contacts customers/service centers to advise them of shipment delays and/or collect information necessary to process orders.

  • Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Information, or Business Analysis is required.

  • Focus on Logistics or Operations Management a plus

  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years of professional experience is required.

  • Procurement/Buyer experience is required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel applications is required.

  • Material Planning experience is required

  • Experience with contracts is preferred.

  • Experience in warehousing, distribution, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics is preferred.

  • Experience in problem solving and continuous improvement is preferred.

  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) / ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is preferred.

  • Experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

  • Experience with Ariba software is a plus.

  • Experience with Sales Force software is a plus.

  • Experience with ERP software is a plus.

  • Experience with capital equipment service is a plus.

  • Experience working on a global basis is a plus.

  • SOX compliance experience a plus.

  • Six Sigma Certification is a plus

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) & ISO 9000 is a plus.
