Position Summary
Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, e.g. abdominal and pelvic, carotid doppler, for patients as ordered.
Essential Functions
Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physician for patients.
Prepare patient by explaining procedure. Position patient and select appropriate transducers and equipment settings to obtain quality images for procedures ordered.
Document on film, process film, and prepare and deliver to Radiologist for reading.
Assist physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, etc. Scan patient, mark patient's body, determine angle for puncture, assist as necessary, maintaining sterile technique.
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety,
environmental and infection control.
Maintain department records (patient/other), reports, files as required.
Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Maintain supply levels.
Keep work areas clean. Alert supervisor to equipment malfunction, etc.
Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, conferences,
workshops, etc.
Available for “on call” responsibilities as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of course for radiology technicians and/or course in ultrasonic technology.
Registration/license as required.
Knowledge of the ultrasound equipment, matrix camera system, transducers and other accessories related to ultrasound unit. Previous experience desirable.
Registered Radiology Technologist and/or registered or registry eligible in ultrasound.
(American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers)
Experience in general abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, prostate and carotid doppler is
required.
CPR required.
Working Conditions
Subject to electrical and related hazards. Lifting and positioning of patients
