Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a collaborative and growth focused EHS Compliance Specialist to join our growing EHS team consisting of staff in NY and NJ. The candidate will join the northeast EHS department. Candidate is expected to perform various technical and client-support responsibilities as a technical member of the NY Metro EHS team. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Under minimal supervision, be responsible for the most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements.

  • Utilize advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.

  • Be a self starter.

  • Be willing to travel up to 80% of the time.

  • Use independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.

  • Develop, implement and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.

  • Monitors and prevent hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.

  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

  • Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment's to minimize hazards.

  • Support the development and completion of employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.

  • Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.

  • Prepare reports and recommends corrective action.

  • Acts as a lead technical role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.

  • Support business development initiatives and engage with clients

  • Provide mentorship to team members

  • Apply expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges

  • Prepare technical strategies, scopes, and budgets to support proposals

  • Manage projects and/or programs within the EHS practice (safety, compliance reporting, auditing, hazardous materials management).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or similar +6 years of recent relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

  • Experience mentoring a team of technical professionals

  • Experience with project delivery and business development

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist

  • Certified Safety Professional

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

  • Experience managing small to large size public and private sector projects

  • Experience managing scope and budget, and staff administration and development

  • Experience building client relationships, business development and client management

  • Internally driven, self-starter, team oriented, good communicator

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $101,000.00 - $150,000.00.
